WSUD Design & Construction
WSUD for Residential Developments

Harcrest Residential Development

Mirvac

The development is a 56 ha residential infill development in Melbourne’s east.  The site is effectively landlocked in regard to peak flow management and suitable solutions for downstream flood protection.

Demonstration of system performance required extensive modelling, reporting and design supported through liaison with the relevant authorities during the approvals process.  WSUD initiatives have been integrated within allotment, streetscapes, local precinct and at the ‘end of system’ to enable treatment and harvesting.  Landscapes are passively and actively irrigated.

Benefits of Harcrest’s dispersed WSUD approach includes resilience to adjustments as design of the development evolved from concept to detailed design, and improved amenity and liveability outcomes.  We are responsible for design coordination with landscape, civil and irrigation infrastructure.

Water Sensitive City Outcomes:

  • enhanced amenity values
  • flood protection
  • passive and active irrigation of the urban landscape
