The Eltham Corridor Stormwater Harvesting Scheme explored whether cost efficiencies can be realised if a number of demands (for irrigation of multiple ovals located along the waterway corridor) and storages and stormwater treatment sites are linked together as a network. The first project phase modelled the distribution of treated stormwater supply and reuse demand characteristics and further investigated locations for treatment, storage and distribution arrangements considering land ownership and utility locations.
This first project phase included preliminary civil design of treatment wetlands, other high level infrastructure descriptions, costs performance assessments and optimisation. The cost performance was determined for variations of a network and compared to that of the same elements arranged as a series of individual harvesting projects. The preferred infrastructure arrangements were identified for further investigation as project phase two where functional design descriptions and subsequent economic analysis will be undertaken.
