Priority WSUD Projects: Gordon Barnard Reserve and Macleay Park
City of Boroondara
This project delivered Boroondara City Council with a well-integrated stormwater harvesting and treatment solution at two sites. Both sites were located in high profile and high value public open spaces that required careful consideration and integration of engineering and landscape outcomes. To deliver value for money, economic costs and benefits were fine-tuned and site specific requirements taken into account. For instance a balance between the cost of storage and volume of water supplied was determined based on modelling, costing and consultation with Council irrigation staff. The designs at each site includes a pumped diversion, underground storage, biofilter treatment and integration with existing irrigation systems.
E2Designlab lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver the project. This included Simon Roberts (Project Manager) and Gary Walsh (Project Director) (E2Designlab), Jon Shinkfield and Joshua Neilson (Landscape, REALMStudios), Jarrod Wilson and Tom Wilson (Civil, PGA), Steve Dougan (Irrigation, Make it Wet) as well as expert advice from ATMA Environmental (geotechnical) and MHA (electrical engineering).
